What is a news aggregator?
A news aggregator is a site or app that collects headlines from many publishers into one place, sorted by topic, and links each headline back to the publisher's own page. You get a wide view of the day's news at a glance, and the publishers keep their stories and readers.
How aggregators get headlines
Most publishers publish headline feeds (RSS or Atom) listing their latest stories with a title and link. Aggregators read those feeds, sort the items by section and show them together.
What a good aggregator does not do
It does not copy whole articles, rewrite stories as its own, or hide where a headline came from. The publisher's name and a direct link belong beside every headline.
Why read news this way
Seeing many publishers side by side shows how widely a story is covered and lets you pick which outlet to read it from, instead of seeing one source's view only.
Quick answers
Is a news aggregator legal?
Showing headlines with a link to the publisher is common practice; republishing full articles without permission is not, which is why AllTheHeadlines only links out.
Is AllTheHeadlines free?
Yes, reading is free. Optional paid plans add a morning email digest.
